Course description
The Cisco Catalyst 6500 Communication Media Module (CMM) provides a modular platform for deploying IP telephony services with a diverse range of customized configurations, including conferencing, transcoding and media termination services.

In this course, you will learn in detail about the architecture, configuration, and troubleshooting of the Catalyst 6500 CMM.

Learning objectives
After you complete this course, you will be able to:
  • Describe the features and functionalities of the Catalyst 6500 Communication Media Module
  • Identify the hardware modules and features supported on the CMM with the 6T1,6E1, 24FXS, and ACT adapters
  • Describe DSP Provisioning requirements on the WS-SVC-CMM-6T1/6E1 and ACT
  • Configure the CMM and Cisco CallManager to provide basic VoIP services and media resources
  • Configure the CMM for initial gateway-to-switch communications
  • Configure the communications path from the ACT-to-CMM communications
  • Configure the CMM to operate as a MGCP, H323, SIP and SIP/H323 Gateway
  • Configure common PSTN and PBX connections
  • Configuring Analog lines for phones, fax, and modem use
  • Configure Ad-hoc Conferencing and Transcoding (MTP) on the CMM and in Cisco CallManager
Who should attend
This course is designed for experienced Voice Systems Engineers who need to design and implement voice services using the CMM. Experience using Cisco CallManager is required.

  • CCNP certification or equivalent experience
  • CCVP certification or equivalent experience
  • Advanced experience with Cisco CallManager administration
  • Familiarity with the architecture of the Catalyst 6500 platform
